March 19th, 2011 I think it’s time to let you know that the repeated problems Camfrog has been experiencing over the past several weeks are due to a large denial of service attack against our network.  We have a lot of experience fighting off attacks like this over the years and we have a system in place to make sure an attack will not disrupt our network, but for some reason this time we are having more trouble than usual.
We care about the uptime of Camfrog more than anything and any downtime actually makes me feel physically sick, so please don’t think we are not doing everything in our power to keep Camfrog online.  Our team has a huge amount of experience with situations like this and we will prevail.
At this time we think we know who is responsible for the attack and we are working with law enforcement to make sure they are prosecuted in their country to the fullest extent of the law, however we are also offering a $10,000 USD reward to the first single most important tip that leads to their arrest and successful prosecution.  If you have any tips please make the subject “DDOS Tip” and email it to our helpdesk.

March 16th, 2011 We continue to have logon problems as we upgrade our servers.  Hopefully we will have short term pain but far more long term reliability in the future after the pain is over.  Please be patient as we continue to bring Camfrog back to 100% over the next days.

Update 3/17 – We appear to have similar issues as yesterday but we are working hard to solve them.
Update 3/17 2:41PM CST – If you are having problems connecting one-on-one or sending files please try upgrading to the newest client.  A new Mac client will be out soon also.  Thanks!
Update 3/18 12:01PM CST – We think we have isolated the problem and we will begin to get some stability back.
Update 3/18 1:55PM CST – Things have stabilized a bit, but we are still fighting to keep the servers online.  We are sick of this problem also and we hope things will stabilize 100% soon.
Update 3/18 3:42PM CST – Things seem to be stabilizing now, hopefully we will have a problem free weekend.  Thanks for your patience.
Update 3/18 6:32PM CST – We had another brief outage, but we seem to have the servers back online now.

March 15th, 2011 Tonight at 10PM we plan to upgrade our servers.  The Camfrog website logon and older Camfrog clients may not work for four hours or longer.  Camfrog 6.0 clients may have less issues since the 6.0 client has been updated with a more efficient logon setting that older clients do not have.

March 12th, 2011 We may have occasional temporary network problems while we move to a new provider over the next couple of weeks.  Sorry for any inconvenience and thanks for your patience.
Currently we are not making any changes to any of our servers, this appears to be a network problem with the provider we are leaving.  Network problems with our provider are outside our control unfortunately, but the good news is that we’re moving to a new provider soon.
